Comments | Late March conditions/weather today. Spear was limited to just the novice trail (Cardigan) which was starting to get beaten up a bit as a result. The chair was also ski-on as a result. Flying Yankee was closed all day for racing, even after they pulled the course. At 3:00, patrol said it would be another half hour before the trail would open, which is unfortunate, because it's the only advanced trail that's otherwise open right now. There were perhaps five distinct routes down the main mountain: Exhibition, Town Meeting/Newfound Ridge into Main Street, Chute into Village Green, Wild Side (terrain park), and Ridge. Upper/Lower Chute skied the best of those in my opinion. Barnyard has two ways down (about half wide on the slope, and then using cross overs onto Lower Cardigan-Wanna Be Wild). I would estimate that about 50% of the trailed acreage is open if including Flying Yankee. Lots of shorter trails/chutes are closed though, making the trail count look worse. It was generally a 1-2 minute wait for the 6 pack, but it would have been 1-2 chairs if there was an attendant in the corral. For full price, it would have been a let down (welcome to 2015-16), but the New Hampshire resident Sunday afternoon deal and the fast lifts made for a lot of runs and decent value. | |
