Comments | In general, I prefer Cannon's upper mountain, especially the runs off the Cannonball chair, but today the light was so flat up high due to low clouds and snowmaking that skiing up there was just about impossible. I tried one run -- when you smash into a mogul without even seeing it, skiing's no fun. So I stayed lower today, on the Front Five and on runs off the Peabody quad chair. The best run of the day was, believe it or not, Time Zone, which is an easy and often crowded run off the (not open) Eagle Cliff chair. But hardly anyone had skied it today and there was untracked powder off to the left side. Nice, and a special pleasure on a day when conditions overall left something to be desired.
Discount tickets today for N.H. residents, and Cannon was as crowded today as I've ever seen it during the mid-week. Yet skiing alone, even on a crowded mountain, during a pandemic is, well, kind of lonely and one of the odder skiing experiences I've had in my 50+ years of skiing. |
