Comments | Had a pretty good morning/early afternoon at Crotched today! Pretty much the whole mountain was open which was nice, the only exceptions being the glades, Comet Drop, Shooting Star, and Meteor, which was closed for race training. The resort was pretty empty in the morning, besides some high school ski teams. There were pretty much no lines most of the time I was there, though every now and then there would be a wave of ski racers and I may be waiting 3 or 4 min. In the afternoon when I left it was a little busier, but most of the time the wait was still only a few groups.
Most of the trails were dust on crust, but a good amount of dust compared to the crust. Trail coverage was pretty mixed, they either had a really deep cover (Moon Walk, Milkway, Galaxy) or a really bad cover (Jupiter's Storm, Equinox). One concerning thing to me though was that it appeared like ski patrol may have taken the morning off? On trails with a thin cover, there were no "thin cover" signs at the entrances to trails with thin cover, and there were not any hazard markers where hazards were, so it was pretty much "figure it out yourself" which is pretty concerning to me, especially at a place like Crotched.
As long as you stuck to trails with a good cover though, I would say the skiing at Crotched was pretty good today! |
