Comments | Skied North Peak, South Peak, and the West Basin today. Overall snow conditions were great! Yesterdays snow was groomed in nicely. Started at the Kanc quad base. The lift was running, but didn’t load anyone until 8:15. Quite a large line developed. Once I got on the lift I skied over to North Peak. Walking Boss top to bottom was nice, smooth and grippy. Sunset, Upper Picked Rock, and Flying Fox were almost as nice. Upper Flume was good, but Lower Flume had more of a chopped up frozen granular texture with some areas of small ice balls. Snowmaking was active on Upper Speakeasy, Dropline, and in the trail split area near the Tote Road Quad. Some fog rolled into the higher elevations and the lift line started to back up by around 9:30, so I headed over to South Peak. South Peak trails were in good shape, and there was much less fog. Ripsaw was in decent shape. Twitcher and Jobber skied nicely. Boom Run and Cruiser skied well also. Most times the lift was ski on, I only had to wait a few minutes a couple of times. Finished the day at the West Basin area. The trails skied nicely, also the snow seemed slightly softer and grippier in that area. Rampasture and Upper Rumrunner were in the best shape. Blue Ox, Lower Picked Rock, Rampasture, and Lower Northstar skied well too. Snowmaking was active at the entrance to Lower Speakeasy, Lower Rumrunner, and in the trail confluence area near the base. Weather: Temperature started out in the low teens, and was 28° when I left. | |
