Comments | Showed up early today and it paid off. Made a ski friend, and we got first tracks for Flying Yankee. Lapped that twice after seeing the racing kids at the base. Great conditions on this trail, but got chewed up quickly as it was the only trail open off the Spear quad. There were a lot of moving targets on Yankee, so serious control was a necessity. We decided to call it at 10:30 after FINALLY reaching 10 runs. Snow making is happening on Cardigan, looked like they shut off the lower portion for rising temps.
Ragged six pack was a rough ride. Staff is still doing a phenomenal job trying to mitigate loading riders based on COVID protocols, but it line still managed to back up the hill by 10:00. Newfound Ridge was very crusty, patches of ice, and decent sized chunks of frozen granular. Wild Side was in good shape, and Lower Ridge was really good. Terrain park on Lower Chute was good, not too many kids playing on it. Headwall was in great shape too.
Lots of lessons and race practices going on. We tried riding the singles line on Ragged six pack to speed up wait times, and sometimes just hopped back on Spear. Waiting in the group line for the six pack was what took the most time. We are midweek skiers, who are spoiled by short lift lines! If more terrain were able to be open, I think there could have been a bit of a reduction in waiting for sure. |
