Comments | Crowds were less than some days, lower parking lot not used.
Tried Sun Bowl early in the day and Lower Wingding was already showing signs of being skied off. Ridge and Bonanza are still not open, maybe tomorrow or Thursday. Very disappointing that more trails from the top were not open. Basically two routes down from the summit, both have steep pitches which were tough for lower level skiers. Upper, middle and lower Wingding were the only options basically for Sun Bowl. Flint from the top of the North Peak was open, which did help with avoiding lines on the summit lift.
The effect of Vail ("corporate") is definitionally being felt. It appears Sunapee is not aggressively expanding terrain even when the temperatures allow. Yes they were blowing snow on 2 1/2 trails today, but I thought they had more capacity than that. Cost containment appears to be the primary mission.
