Comments | Nice to get some runs in this morning at Crotched! Pulled in the parking lot about 10-15min before opening and got a front-row spot, near the West Lift. Last weekend they had Rocket and Valley running, while this weekend they had Rocket and West open, which I prefer since it opens up new terrain. The only mildly annoying thing about today was that Milky Way was not open, so while you could ski from the West Lift trails to the Rocket trails, you couldn't do the opposite. First, I got in a few runs off the West Lift. Comet Drop and the glade were open naturally, snow was tracked-out powder. SuperNova was groomed and was therefore pretty firm since it was in the shade. Velocity, meanwhile, was groomed, but not as a firm since it was in the sun. Then, I got a few runs in over off of the Rocket. Satellite Summit, Moon Walk, and Galaxy appeared to not have been groomed last night (though had been the night before), which made the snow a very nice packed powder. Magnitude and Big Dipper were open and left natural, but I didn't ski either. There was a little bit of ice on Satellite Summit, but the rest of the terrain of the Rocket was almost perfect! Finally, I went to the car for lunch, then I got a few more runs off the West Lift, and the conditions were mostly the same. Lift lines weren't really long all day. 9-10:30 was empty, 10:30-11:30 there was a line but it wasn't long, and after my lunch (12) until when I left (1) there were again very minimal crowds. | |
