Comments | Snow guns were finally off and sun came out around 10:30. Snow was great. Both Conifer and Ralph's were nearly full width but beware of existing drainage ditch dips and edge drop off. I hit one drainage ditch at the bottom of Conifer and did a front summersault. I had seen it happen a day or two before to another skier but didn't realize what had happened until it happened to me. I'm sure we were not the only two. They had been making snow on Challenger and were grooming it thursday. Looks like they will have about 1/2 trail width when they open it friday or on the weekend. Does look like winter on the mountain which is nice. Trails can get a little congested at times even though there have been virtually no lift lines. Just not enough terrain. Lodge is open to go in, use the bathrooms and sit and get a bite to eat from the cafe but masks are required except when eating and tables are few and far apart. Couple nice heated benches and pole heaters on the patio to help keep you warm. Warning on the heated benches, yes they are nice but when they are making snow or it is snowing the snow melts, the seats get wet and water pools at the jct of the back and seat. So unless you want a wet, uncomfortable bottom check before you sit. It is probably a little early to even consider skiing on the weekend, just too many weekend warriors and not nearly enough open terrain. |
