Comments | Yesterdays soft snow, combined with last nights rain and below freezing temperatures resulted in very firm conditions today. Any trails that were not groomed again this morning were frozen solid corduroy, and in my opinion were not worth risking. The trails that received a second grooming were skiable, but some did have areas of chopped up ice. The weather was below freezing to start out, and only reached the mid 30's at the base. It started out sunny, but got cloudy around 11. With the clouds and cold temps the snow never softened up much, except at the base. North Peak: Upper Walking Boss was decent, but Lower Walking Boss was very firm. Sunset was good. Upper Picked Rock was frozen solid. Did not try Flume or Haulback. Loon Peak: Exodus and Bear Claw Extension were good. Upper Speakeasy was decent. Upper Picked Rock was frozen solid, so I didn't try Flying Fox. Angel Street was closed. West Basin trails were all groomed again this morning and were decent. I didn't go down Lower Speakeasy, or Coolidge Street. The area leading to the chairlift was solid ice at first chair, but softened up at mid day. South Peak had a delayed opening for re-grooming. I didn't go over there today. But around 1 PM a Ski Patroller (Snowboarder, does that mean Snowboard Patrol?) reported that she had just closed Ripsaw, Twitcher, and Jobber. She said that Boom Run and Cruiser were open and in good shape. Next years season passes are on sale now, with the lowest prices if you lock in this week. | |
