Glades | Most glades were open though a couple were still roped off????? Like, Double Take was roped off? Everyone ducked the rope for that one. Also, Mikey's Run - one little open water area- ? Anywho, the glades had almost no rocks showing. Even "thin cover" was pretty deep. |

Comments | Terrific afternoon - still powder to be had if you looked for it!!! Glades were outstanding. Sweepstakes had a lot of ice chunks near the top half. Bottom half had fresh pow still available at the edge. Not enough time to get to everything I wanted to even though I was there from 12:30-4. The Abyss was pretty dreamy. Fresh pow on Big Rock and the flats of Easy Winder. One of my favorite descents is Cemetery Gates over to Cabin Fever and it did not disappoint - very rare to have both open so that was nice.
Made the mistake of pausing at the bench just above the Sunnyside Trail when I saw someone go into the woods behind the bench. SO, of course, I followed thinking it would link up to Twister (which was weirdly closed - ????). But instead, I came to a dead end where a couple of teenagers seemed about to light up some kind of smoking materials.... AWKWARD!!! They were pretty friendly and pointed out maybe how to exit - well I ended up falling a$$ over teakettle into what appeared to be a huge brush pile, and when I finally freed my snowboard, I realized I was just above a 4' drop down to the Blueberry Patch Trail.... ugh... it wasn't pretty.
Anywho - an amazing snow day!!!! |
