Comments | 58 of 61 Trails, and 10 of 10 Lifts were open today. The temperature was -10° at 8 AM, but rose to 25° by mid afternoon. Full sun in the AM. Partly cloudy after noon. No wind today. It was a cold start, but the air was dry, so it didn't feel too bad. The full sun felt good while riding up the lift. By mid day it felt very comfortable. Got dropped off by a shuttle bus from condo at 7:55. Parking lots were full. Governor Adams Lodge was jammed with racers and families. Dressed and geared up before boarding the shuttle so upon arrival I headed directly to the Kanc Quad without bothering with the lodge area. Skied all the West Basin trails except for Coolidge Street which was closed for racing. The snow was firm and fast. More of a frozen granular texture than the powder that I skied on at Bretton Woods yesterday. All trails were groomed out nice and smooth however. At North Peak the snow condition was the same, firm and fast with a top layer of groomed out smooth loose granular. Upper and Lower Flume were in nice shape. From the lift I saw many folks ripping down Lower Flume at full speed. Walking Boss, Sunset, Picked Rock, Flying Fox, and Crosscut all skied well. Haulback to Cant Dawg, Angel Street, and Basin Street also skied well. Since the snow base layer was firm, and it stayed cold all day, the trails never got bumped up. Lift lines were short today. Singles lines were under 1 minute. Did not go to the gondola complex. | |
