Comments | Couldn't resist venturing out to take advantage of the fresh snow falling after a warm and dry few weeks. The kiddies were out from school and clearly loving it. Some were struggling with the conditions - the tears were heard from the lift. Others were bombing around with zero fear. Ah...to have all that energy and patella cartilidge :D Race training was happening on Showboat, but it wasn't closed. I skipped it though because it was narrow and chopped up, but saw later that the racers were skiing down with the gates, freeing it up for recreational use again. Cardigan still had huge patches of untouched powder by lunchtime - I found it was probably because where it was made for slow going to get through it on lesser grades! Ridge was fun all the way around, bumped up in spots but great none the less. I took Pines on the way out of that one, which paid off because it hadn't seen much action and still had great patches of fresh powder. Birches was fabulous as always (my personal favorite). Exhibition top to bottom was great, with some sections of powder here and there, later being fairly skied down. Chutes was also great with minimal travel. Crewcut looked like fun as it dumped onto Main Street with tons of unskied powder! Around lunchtime it started to switch over to freezing rain, and I realized that my outer layers were all iced over. The smaller particles made the low winds seems fierce so I decided to call it a day. Goggles were of no use past the second run, they were also iced over. | |
