Started at Skyeship at about 10 in the morning. Skied with a friend all day. Went up that and went up South Ridge and went to Old Superstar. OS was in decent shape with some ice and exposed stuff here and there. Took the rest of Superstar down. Middle was okay, but lower (preston’s) was AWFUL! Extremely Icy. If you look at it from the Superstar Lift you can see what I mean. Do not ski this tomorrow unless they make snow on it tonight. We then went to Snowshed to check out the seldom open Snowshed Double (we are both lift enthusiasts). The base of Snowshed was Crazy! Huge line at the Snowshed Express and even a long line at the double. The. We went up Needles Eye and tried that trail out. Middle was sketchy with ice and rocks (natural snow only) but the Lower part was variable with both packed powder and skied off spots. Next we tried Cruise Control, and it was mostly the same as Needle’s. It even had some rocks exposed on the right side. It could use some more snowmaking. En we went down Snowshed Slope to Ramshead and Snowdon. Swirl was skiing really good and was actually ungroomed (pretty rare I think). On Snowdon, Chute and Bunny Buster we’re skiing well, but Mouse Trap was terrible. One side was totally skied off with ice and the other side was soft but had exposed rocks and grass. Your choice! Then we took Superstar up and headed to bear. Bear Claw to Lower Wildfire was Pretty Soft with some ice mixed in too. Something went wrong with the Bear Mountain Quad around 2:30/3:00 in the afternoon and closed. Not sure what. It’s on the schedule for tomorrow, so it must be fixed. We then tried Upper Jug off of South Ridge. It was really fun. Some rocks to dodge, but still fun. Lower Jug looked too rocky so we took escape over and skied Falls Brook (Bear Cub) down and rode the Skye Peak Quad back up and skied Great Eastern all the way back to Skyeship. Great Eastern had some packed powder and skied off spots too. We managed to squeeze one last run off Skyeship and Great Eastern again. Called it a day after. Fun day! |
