Comments | Last minute stop on the way home and the best skiing of the day. All natural snow, the base is only about 3", but fortunately quite dense. As a result, the groomed trails skied well and had no rocks. Holland's Tunnel, Sunnyside, Main Slope, Northside, and Powerline were all groomed. Jug Handle and Sugar House were ungroomed and tricky because of the crust and because they did not appear to have been mowed this off season. The Face and New Face were also tricky because of the crust, but nevertheless covered. The terrain here packs a lot of punch for only being 300ish vertical feet. Holland's Tunnel is one of those rare narrow cruisers (barely a snowcat wide), while bowl above the Main Slope is one of the neater open slopes in the region. The T-Bar moves at a pretty decent clip. Sometimes there was a few minute wait, other times it was only a couple of Ts. Nearly a full parking lot, which is good to see for opening day. | |
