Comments CommentsBusy NYD at Sunday River, the recent snowfall brought a lot of folks out. We ski with Ikon passes, and had been told that there would be direct to lift available this winter, and found out such was not the case at the Barker chair. The attendant was kind and let us on after trying to scan our badges with no luck. Funny thing was, if we never rose the Barker chair or South Ridge chair again, we were never checked anywhere else. Barker was easily the busiest chair of the day.

Airglow on Aurora Peak had the best conditions, Northern Lights was patchy with white and black ice. Most trails you could catch snow for extra traction, but the crowds made it a challenge to navigate them. Black Hole was natural and bumped up. It was tough watching people skitter down it, there was white ice under any remaining snow.

North Peak trails were busy, but otherwise in generally good conditions. Nothing more to really mention about it, just busy and okay. Chair was fine, only stopped in lodge for a minute.

White Heat was groomed but the lift was on wind hold the first hour or so of the morning. Once we got over to the Aurora Chair we could see it was running at regular speed and loading. We got to it right before lunchtime, and there was a little boiler plate popping through, but you could catch snow and keep good control. It was buuuusssyyy though. The crowds made it a one and done. Shock Wave had snowmaking, and we played on the lower White Cap trails to wrap up the morning.
