Comments | Not a bad morning at Kmart except for the wind. The trails were in decent shape considering the recent rain we had last week, except for Superstar. That trail had ice patches showing through from the chairlift as well as the base. Highline off Snowdon was firm to be modest, but an edge could be set. Ramshead complex wasn't in bad shape either, but the wind was stronger. The North Ridge Triple that serves Rime, Reason, Great Northern etc was quiet, and the trails were relatively fresh. It looked like only a couple people had gone down East Fall prior to us. Upper Cascade was NOT groomed as reported, only the lower run out. Needles Eye complex was in good shape too, a few sketchy spots on Oanic Button - again an edge could be set, just use caution.
Both K1 and Skyeship Express gondolas were running but closed due to mechanics. The new Snowdon six pack was running and a welcome sight with the bonus of the bubble covers! That chair was a bit rocky in the wind closer to the top terminal but not awful. Ramshead was about the worst ride, facing directly into the wind. North Ridge Triple and Northbrook Quads were most comfortable and out of the wind. Needles Eye wasn't bad either. Superstar quad was probably the rockiest of all lifts, which we rode once and opted for the others.
We left at lunch time to check out sister mountain Pico and grabbed lunch. |
