Comments | I only had time to ski for the first two hours of the day today. The snow today was much firmer than yesterday, but was still ok. The temperature hadn't dropped enough overnight to turn it into boilerplate. Started out at the Kancamagus Quad, and skied the West Basin trails. Picked Rock, Blue Ox, and Rampasture still have good coverage. Lower Northstar was OK, but had thin coverage toward the bottom. I tried to take the path from Rampasture to Lower Speakeasy, but it was closed off at Coolidge Street. Coolidge Street was still all whales from last weeks snowmaking that haven't been groomed out yet. They weren't soft like they were on Friday, but they were still ok to ski on. Skied one run from the Gondola, Flying Fox. It had a large bare spot in the middle of the trail just before the split with Crosscut, but otherwise was ok. From the North Peak I skied two runs. Sunset to Upper Picked Rock was ok. The last run was down Upper Speakeasy. The first entrance near the Tote Road lift was closed, so I entered at the next opening from Bear Claw. I found this trail to be very icy, so I proceeded with caution, and did not go down Lower Speakeasy today. Overall the mountain survived yesterdays rain event fairly well. Snow making should resume tonight, and with the cold weather forecasted for this week I expect the conditions will be back in good shape in a few days. I did not encounter a wait at any of the lifts today. The Governor Adams Lodge was not crowded at all today either. Some light snow was falling as I left. | |
