Comments | Yeah, I skied in the rain today. The snow was nice, soft and carveable. The Gondola, North Peak Express, and the Lincoln Express on South Peak were closed today due to "wind hold". Typically at Loon the Gondola is the smart play on rainy days. I never felt any wind, and think they probably closed these lifts due to expected low ticket sales. The West Basin trails were mostly in good shape. There were some icy patches however at the bottom of Lower Northstar. Also there were two unmarked sink holes at the bottom of Lower Speakeasy. Haulback to Lower Flume and Lower Walking Boss was open. I found Lower Walking Boss to be kind of icy as there was not much skier traffic on it to break up the smooth groomed surface. Based on this I did not try Lower Flume. The East Basin Double was open, servicing the summit trails. Picked Rock and Flying Fox were in good shape, but there was some carnage on each trail to watch out for. Crosscut and Bear Claw trail were fine. Today was supposed to be the annual demo day at the Governor Adams Lodge. However due to low vendor turnout it was moved to the Whistle Stop Cafe. Only Rossignol and Parlor skis showed up. The price was reduced to free. By the time I realized they had relocated the event it was too late to participate as it was just wrapping up | |
