Snow Trail Conditions35% open; Powder, Packed Powder
Glades GladesThey may not have been officially open but the wild ones were ripping it up from the North Ridge to the trees off Frolic people were in the trees on thin cover
Moguls Mogulssoft bumps formed later in the morning on the fresh powder covered groomed trails. Ungroomed trails had some serious soft bumps and sometimes slick snow or grass between those bigger bumps. Good fun.
Terrain Park Terrain Park(s)Yah there was a crazy pop up park on Reason today but I read in their snow report that they're moving to Mouse Run soon. Not that I care.
Run of the Day Run of the DayDowndraft, au natural snow, bumps and a few skied off steeps but pleasantly ski-able.
Food and Beverage Food and BeverageStopped by the Long Trail Brewery on the ride home for a late lunch, we enjoyed it.
Comments Comments Arrived at Snowshed at 9 am, booted up quickly and didn't quit until 1 pm and it was snowing when we arrived and it was still snowing when we left. Killington received more than a foot of snow this week and at least 4 more inches in the last 24 hours and snow guns blasting away all over the place too. More trails are going to open this weekend (report said Skye Peak will open and we were told Superstar to re-open to the public too). Ramshead, Snowdon and Killington Peak had excellent groomed trails with plenty of fresh snow on top. we started from Ramshead and did a run there and then headed to the Gondola. Felt like too many race kids in groups for the first couple of hours. The only rock I hit hard was on Conclusion but the deep powder made it seem worthwhile. Downdraft was fun we had it all to ourselves, big bumps and some thin cover but very nice still. Ridge Run, Rime and East Fall were swell and the new North Ridge Quad has really nice seat cushions. Love the Snowdon bubblechair today, very comfy ride on a snowy day. The Old K1 lodge is open but there is construction all around it. They were taking down the last of the staging set-up for the World Cup. I got the 35% open from their report of 46/155 trails open and rounded up since most of the trails that still had ropes across them were ignored. (not us but geez they were really tracked out). We had a fun time.
