Comments | South Peak is closed for the season. The Loon Peak, North Peak and the West Basin areas were open. Upper Flume, Cant Dog, Angel Street, Big Dipper, Triple Trouble, and the glade areas were closed as a result of the recent rain/freeze cycle. All the other trails were open.
What I noticed right away was the top notch grooming job. All of the open trails were groomed smoothly from edge to edge. It was like the rain and freeze cycle last weekend hadn't even happened. The day started out chilly but quickly warmed up and the snow softened nicely. Skied the full day until last chair, it was really good. Called Coolidge Street as the run of the day because it was in great shape and it was fully open to the public today.
I have a season pass at Loon but I opted to use my Icon Pass today. Wanted Loon to receive compensation from the Icon Pass for my visit. Will be doing the same for the remainder of my 5 Icon Pass days at Loon and Sunday River. I don't plan to renew my Icon Pass for next year. I purchased it based on the previous great experience with the Max Pass and hope that more New England resorts would be added, the 5 days at Killington, and an expected trip to Tremblant. My Tremblant trip fell through. The other Max Pass resorts that I frequented were Sunapee, Okemo, and Wachusett on Loon blackout days, but they are no longer included in the Icon Pass. Unless they come up with more New England resorts, and a discount for pass holders at the partner resorts, like the Max Pass had, I will not renew it.
