Comments | Recently purchased the Bold and Beautiful pass for next year and was planning to go to Cannon today. I checked the conditions report online before leaving and saw that the Peabody Express was on mechanical hold, and that they were working on starting up the Tram for summit access. They also mentioned that wind holds were likely later on. With this news, and the sub par weather, I opted to ski on more familiar terrain at Loon instead.
The weather at arrival was a steady drizzle, so rain gear was donned. Parked at the Governors Lodge which was not the best choice. There was a big race event going on and the lodge was jam packed. Campers consumed every table, bags and clothes all over the floor and aisles made it hard to walk through. Got out on the lift and found the West Basin trails to be in good shape. The drizzle and fog made for poor visibility though. Went over to the gondola for a few runs to stay dry. Then went to North Peak. Upper Walking Boss was very icy, Lower Boss was good. Angel Street was also in good shape. Did not go to South Peak, tomorrow is their last day. Kept hoping the Sun would make an appearance, but it never did. |
