Comments | Hardly any degradation since a week ago - they're lucky, good or both. Conifer Connection, however, in rough shape last week, has closed. Temperatures remained in low-mid 30s so still no slush when I stopped around 1. 10th Division and Smith-Walton both in surprisingly good shape. S-W sometimes has icy patches on and near its top upper headwall but not today.
They started their Spring rates Monday so I skied for a pittance. Minuscule crowd too, as you'd expect.
Challenger, off the Minuteman lift, is a mere Blue but may be my favorite here - a steeper than usual, wide cruiser that is largely shaded and always in great shape. Back when Wachusett was mostly a weekend thing for me, I could rarely ski it because there always seemed to be a race on it. |
