Comments CommentsAwesome Sugarbush day...blue skies, an inch of powder overnight, no crowds, every lift of consequence running.

Started on Lincoln Peak. Jester was groomed out nicely, while Ripcord had been groomed a day or so earlier and had an inch of powder on top. Ripcord was very fun. Upper Organgrinder is currently bumps.

On Gadd Peak, Steins was closed, as it has been knocked flat and tracked out (full of death cookies at the moment). Spring Fling skied well, even at the end of the day. Snowball was okay. Murphy's had some nasty blue ice patches.

Gatehouse complex had a lot of boilerplate (especially Pushover and by the looks of it Waterfall), even in the morning. Sleeper/Chutes was groomed and decent.

We then took the Slidebrook over to Mt. Ellen. Every chairlift over there was running, which was very convenient. Inverness and Brambles were closed for racing. We took Walt's, which was ungroomed and not too good (random bare spots and ice). The Cliffs under GMX was groomed and skied really well. Rim Run and Elbow were groomed and skied well. Lookin' Good was scratchy.

Lower FIS was open, so we took the chance...the steeps were generally soft moguls (spring snow in the direct sun). Nasty ice bulge hiding under the inch of powder just below the South Bound junction. Narrow band of snow (e.g. bare ground) just below the Slidebrook crossing. Traverse back was single file over the waterbars. Very fun trail though; nice wilderness-like feel.

Back to south, we hit Lynx...Birch Run was groomed and nice, while Sunrise was fairly even but scratchy. Did not hit Morning Star, but the bumps looked somewhat soft in the sun.

We then headed over to Castlerock. The very end of Castlerock Connection (just above the lift terminal) is melting out and is being put together by shovel. Lower Liftline is closed/mostly bare. Castlerock Run to Troll Road was groomed and awesome. Plenty of base up high. With hopped onto the bumps on lower Middle Earth, but found them to be firm...other bumps looked firm and large, so we stayed on the groomed track, though Bail Out was bumped (some bare spots) on the way out.

Days like this show how much more exciting and better flowing the Sugarbush terrain is as compared to Killington, Sunday River, etc.
