Comments CommentsNice blue sky morning at Waterville. Cold start, but a dusting to an inch of overnight powder.

High Country had full coverage, but was not open today (T-Bar wasn't operating).

On the main mountain, White Caps, Upper Sel's, Terry's Trail, upper Old Tecumseh, Utter Abandon, and Tommy's World Cup were not open due to racing. Upper Bobby's skied nicely with the new powder on top. Psyched and Chute were groomed but a little scratchy in the middle. Lower Old Tecumseh (accessible via Siegel Street) was very nice loose granular. Tippy/Tyler skied nicely (especially Tyler; half groomed half bumps), as did Tangent-Periphery-Boneyard (half groomed half bumps).

The Sunnyside steeps were not groomed and seeing how bulletproof the ungroomed boilerplate was, I opted to skip them. No Grit and Oblivion skied nicely.

What made the day was Green Peak. The lift is slow in comparison to the high speed quad, but the newly opened terrain skied very nicely and makes Waterville feel a lot bigger (and runs off this peak aren't much shorter than the main mountain runs). Pfosi's and Wayne Wong Way were opened, but not groomed, and looked too gnarly for my tastes. Clean Shaven, an expert trail that opened this year, was groomed wall to wall and was a blast. Piano Man is a nice intermediate trail and Calvert's skied decently. Governor's is one of the best intermediate trails on the mountain and skied really nicely with the new powder mixed in.
