Comments | There was rain last night which resulted in very firm conditions across the mountain to start the day. By 10:00 the Sun did it's thing and the snow started to soften up. It turned out to be a really good day. Lower Smith Walton was closed in the morning for races. Upper Smith was open and was good all day. The 10'th Mountain Trail was firm to start but softened up nicely as the Sun hit it. Conifer Connection was nice to start out but got a bit sloppy by noon time. Balance Rock was scratchy to start but got nice later in the morning. The Salamander Cutoff got a bit sloppy on the steeper section as the snow softened. Indian Summer, Sundowner, and Challenger were closed off for Special Olympics use. Lift lines were non existent all day, which is highly unusual for a Saturday at Wachusett. |
