Comments | Awesome morning at Big Squaw. Full day tickets are only $30.
Everything except the two short diamonds off the top of the chair was open. They had just finished grooming prior to opening, which is when it started snowing. The snow was coming down hard enough that our tracks were disappearing in a matter of minutes. Plenty of natural snow coverage (though they do have a fan gun fleet). Only a few dozen skiers, so no lines or crowds.
Pretty much everything off the chair is intermediate or novice (the upper mountain chairlift closed years ago). I particuarly liked Lower Penobscot, as it passed through the abandoned main base area/hotel. Only downside to the snow was that we didn't get to see the fantastic Moosehead Lake views. |
