Glades GladesOK, so, when I got to the top of Spear Mtn on my second run (around 8:45am), I saw "a" rope across where the first aid litters were near the ski patrol shed - I looked and there was no "closed" sign on it, so, I went to the right of the rope, looking back to see if I would get yelled at and I wasn't so, I proceeded with caution to Double/Triple Take. WELL, I realized i don't think it had been checked by Ski Patrol - I got first tracks. Unbelievably pretty in there, BUT, you do drop into the large cliffy area and there wasn't much of a base. I ended up above a 5' or so drop off, with no way out, so, I unstrapped and skooched over skier's left, then, there without any speed, I skooched over to the right, under the rock face. Still, nobody in there. Then, I after the little uphill section under the cliffy rock face, I strapped on.... about 8+" of fresh pow - WOW. The Abyss not open because Flying Yankee wasn't open (blowing snow on it). Not Too Shabby was open (from Showboat) but suddenly, near the rock face, there was a "CLOSED" sign staked in the middle of the glade with no information - kinda caught me off guard and I'm thinking like, what the heck is closed in here???? I lost my momentum at that point trying to figure out what was going on!!!! STILL, very fun glades and glad they were open!!!
Moguls Mogulsnone that I found
Terrain Park Terrain Park(s)not sure - I avoided
Run of the Day Run of the DayPel's Pass
Food and Beverage Food and BeverageI didn't partake - I went to Danbury Country Store instead - YAY - whoopie pies are awesome there!!!
Comments CommentsStarted out quite brisk and few people but got super-crowded at 10:30-11. People are still figuring out how to ride the lift and the RFID system, apparently. I left at 11:30 after 3 hours - just too crowded - I headed to Mt. Cardigan for an afternoon split board tour. Groomers were a bit too crisp for me - I just used them to get to the glades. Still pockets of fresh pow to be had in the glades. I was glad they left some trails ungroomed. Amazing views. Sweepstakes was wonderful fun, as usual as it was ungroomed. Upper and Lower Crewcut were super-fun leading to Exhibition Glades. I think I hit every open glade except Moose Alley Ragged Edge and Raggae.
