Comments | There were 59 of 61 trails open today. About 3"-4" of fresh powder fell last night after most of the trails were groomed. Started out skiing through loose powder early in the morning before it became tracked out. Skied trails from the West Basin, North Peak, and Gondola lifts. There was low cloud cover or fog from just below the Gondola Summit up, which caused some ice to form on my goggle lenses. Used my hand warmers to melt and wipe off the ice while riding the next lift. Made a few runs on Bear Claw, which was packed powder, groomed after the snow fell. It was a chance for my legs to recover a bit from pushing all the powder around on the other trails. Broke for lunch and figured I would only make a few runs in the afternoon However, after lunch conditions changed to more of a packed powder with a mix of loose powder. The skiing got easier and I ended up staying until 3 PM. In the afternoon Sunset trail got quite bumped up from the loose snow, and with the fog the visibility was not too good so I had to be careful. It was not very crowded, but I noticed there were a lot of College students today. |
