Comments | Great conditions prior to the rain. Good size crowd for a Thursday before the holiday. PSU had wrapped up their last final in the morning, so by 11:00 there was a good percentage of college students.
South Peak was closed, so bummed! Had planned to spend a healthy chunk over there, as it had just opened Saturday. Word was they were saving it for the weekend. North Peak was in great shape, Walking Boss was good top to bottom even after lunch. East Basin trails were almost all open, groomed, and by lunchtime had a few piles in places but was still navigable. I had been told that Angel Street had been ice prior, but was edgable and covered with frozen granular when I went over. Loon Peak over the the Kanc Quad was great. Decent patch of ice at the bottom of Coolidge Street from race training, but otherwise good. Did not make it to the beginner section, the chair is molasses.
Lifts were all half to completely full each chair. North Peak never rode up with more than two others, Kanc Quad was full just about every ride. Gondola was running at full capacity after 10:00, sitting with three others each trip up. |
