Comments | Better than expected conditions tonight, generally loose granular and packed powder with occasional boilerplate in the high traffic areas and racing ruts. The lighting, on the other hand, is terrible right now. Jupiter's Storm was wall to wall, though a little grass was poking through in one spot. NCC 1701 skied well, and Galaxy and Big Dipper were okay. Magnitude was decent. Meteor was "closed" for racing in progress, but racing was no longer in progress. Didn't see any patrollers skiing, so perhaps there was no one to take down the signs. Trail skied decently outside of the ruts. Satellite Summit, Retro, and Blast Off were completely dark - lights were either out or too dim to reach the ground. Surprised these trails were open...they skied well, but it was dangerous. Pluto's Plunge skied well. UFO and Equinox were closed, but have snowmaking whales on them. Milky Way was icy. Velocity was okay and Super Nova/Zero G/Re-Entry were all decent. Shooting Star and Comet Drop are closed with no snow made on them. Temps were cool enough that the snow didn't get soft, but warm enough that it didn't set up. Lift was generally ski on, once you got through the lift scanner. They were scanning every ticket, every run, with the antiquated hand scanners. Wish they'd either go RFID or back to the old fashioned method of visually scanning. Man made depths seem to be good enough that the snow should hopefully survive the incoming blowtorch weather. | |
