Comments | Absolutely INSANE powder conditions for opening day!!! Pleasant surprise!!!! Because it was so cold (about 5-10 degrees at the base), I was going to do only 1 run and then run, BUT, it was so good I stayed!!!! No real ice under all that powder - I was able to get an edge in just about everything even with my powder board!!!! Of course, there are ALWAYS glitches at this semi-state-owned resort!!!! Namely, the season pass line was HORRIFICALLY long - went out the door for these cold temps - very inefficient - one of the pass printers wasn't working very well... everyone was pretty patient anyway - I wasn't in a rush to get on the slopes because it was so cold anyway!!!! Also, it was almost humorous - around the Extension/Rock Garden there was an orange circle posted in the middle of the trail: "Trail closed!" I, and everyone else, was wondering, "which trail is closed????" There was no rope or arrow - just a closed sign in the middle of the trail!!!! Too funny!!!! You have to have a sense of humor here!!!! Conditions were crazy-good. I was wiped out after 2 hours of powder - then I went around the backside and skinned up Tuckerbrook - conditions were DEEP powder!!! It was CRAZY good there, too!!!! And lots of fresh powder to still tap!!!!
Front 5 was all open (except for glades) - lots left ungroomed - YAY!!! I like that Cannon doesn't groom he hell out of everything!!!!! I was actually able to ride the lower portion of Zoomer (under the liftline) that is usually roped off, and was roped off later - YAY! |
