Comments CommentsSubpar weather (sleet and light freezing rain), but decent conditions for the last day of the season at Loon. Considering its the same ownership, its interesting to see Loon closing for the season with wall to wall coverage and nice conditions, whereas Sunday River seemed to have more bare spots, etc. yet has a few more weekends to go.

Two lifts running today - Gondola and North Peak Quad. Only took the gondola on the first run to get up to the quad. No lines initially, but the line was out the door after 10. Zero lines on the North Peak (most of the chairs were empty).

Except for the very top, Walking Boss had wall to wall coverage. Firm base with some loose granular on top. Upper Flume was beautiful, soft groomed snow on the first run. Lower Flume only had a few passes of the groomer and wasn't good (lots of ice, as no snow was harvested from the wide mogul field that no one was using today). Haulback was fine, but Cant Dog was a little icy toward the end. Sunset was beautiful with wall to wall coverage - so nice to see this as compared to the half coverage I've seen in recent seasons.

Angel Street and Basin Street skied nicely. Triple Trouble and the main portion of Big Dipper were closed. All three lower entrances to East Basin were open and in good shape with Rolling Bear having by far the nicest conditions (smooth, wall to wall surface with very little usage).

Brookway was a little choppy from the side-by-side rig going up it to the lodge. Brookway Extension was closed (not sure why, as it had been groomed out and looked fine).

Upper Speakeasy was a bit firm. Upper Flying Fox/Crosscut, Upper Picked Rock, and Upper Bear Claw/Island were all fine and wall to wall, generally loose granular.

Did not ski any of the lower main mountain trails. Called it quits after an hour and a half, as I didn't want to chance it with the roads. Too bad to see the season end with so much snow left on the slopes!
