Comments CommentsNew England powder day made it feel like winter again, but also made skiing a work out. Almost everything was open, except for a few trails here and there (such as Valley Plunge, which is listed as open in the snow report, but was closed). Generally good cover, even on the natural trails. It appears Killington received all snow from the Sunday into Monday storm (snow finally let up just after lunch time), and a foot or more of it in total. A little dense, and lots of wind drifting, but it appears to be bonding well onto the January ice.

Ramshead probably skied the best, as it appeared to have been groomed the last and thus had an inch or two of powder on top of smooth corduroy. Other than connector trails here and there, the bulk of the mountain had received enough snow since the overnight groom that it was powder skiing. And with the heavy skier traffic, it was mostly bumps. Only lift with a line on the mountain was the K1 gondola, but that could be avoided via the Snowdon, Superstar, or Canyon quads.

Once again the top of Bear Mountain did not have any lift service, so one had to hike to access that terrain. Snowdon skied decently, including Highline late in the day.

Superstar glacier hasn't really formed a big crown yet, but skiing down the top headwall was fun.

Today was fun, but with a good groom, tomorrow could be the day for cruising.
