Comments CommentsFirm and fast conditions yesterday with loose granular or frozen granular snow over a hardpack base. There were also some boilerplate patches, ice flows, and small thin spots on some trails but all were easily avoidable. Despite the mediocre conditions the mountain was quite busy, with day tickets being sold out and all parking filling up except at the Escape Route lot. Lines were generally around 5 minutes for the main lifts during the busy hours of the day, although as usual the East Basin Double never had a line longer than a few chairs.

Weather was a mixed bag with a few breaks of sun but just as many on-and-off snow showers throughout the day. Temperatures were in the 20s but it felt colder due to the high winds. Noticed that some the detachable lifts were running slower than usual yesterday, with North Peak Express closing about an hour early probably due to the wind. I also got stuck on the Lincoln Express for about 15 minutes starting just before 10:00 due to a mechanical issue, though the lift reopened after they got everyone off and resolved the issue.

While not as good as some other days I've had at Loon, it was still good to be skiing and I had fun spending much of the day ripping down groomers on South Peak.
