Snow Trail Conditions99% open; Packed Powder, Powder
Glades GladesAll-time good. Every glade I skied was in great shape, from mellow lower mountain ones to some nasty steeps. Deep, deep snow in the woods with no ice or crust to be found. Powder stashes abound. I skied Wilderness Woods, Sleepy Hollow, Moose Woods, Vista Glades, Devils Playground, Doug's Woods, Glade, Enchanted Forest, and several expansive unmarked glades around Wilderness Peak.
Moguls MogulsMoguls were on the steep parts of most of the all natural trails. The bumps themselves were all powdery, but likely due to the wind-scouring and just getting tracked out in general, there was definitely ice/rocks in between moguls in some areas. Most notably on upper Preacher and Bolton Outlaw.
Terrain Park Terrain Park(s)Two parks, one on Hide Away with a variety of smaller features and one on Valley Road with some big jumps. Forget where but I saw a rail or two in one of the glades.
Run of the Day Run of the DayDoug's Woods
Food and Beverage Food and BeverageI had the pork curry from Miso Kome down at the Timberline Lodge. It was absolutely delicious.
Comments CommentsWhat an awesome day at Bolton today. Fresh snow and refills all day, first time I've been there with the mountain completely open (except for upper Showoff, which was severely windscoured and closed) and barely any lines on a holiday week Sunday. I skied from 9:15 to 4 and got 18 runs in, skiing a big mix of everything.

Wilderness Peak was all natural snow. Peggy Dow's to Old Turnpike was a good cruiser, and I noticed lots of tracks going out of bounds into the woods that I'll have to check out another time. Cougar had fresh powder even later in the morning. Wilderness Woods were expansive and completely skiable, they'd been skied in but in a way that made for some fun bumpy terrain in the woods. The top of Upper Crossover was sketchy with rocks and ice. Bolton Outlaw was decent, the wind had blown some ice/rock spots but there were also pretty great snowdrifts. Upper Crossover felt like skiing a catwalk, but Fanny Hill was good. There were good unmarked glades around Coyote.

I finally got to ski the real steeps on Vista today as well. Preacher was a nasty, bumpy, narrow trail. It hooked off to the left, but I kept going down into what turned out to be Devil's Playground. That one was pretty intense. Tight trees, gotta commit to some chutes before it opens up further down. Had fun though. Cobrass was good top to bottom. All the ones down the front off Shermans Pass were skiing well except for Upper Showoff, which was closed. Spillway was good with the fresh powder as my first run, and Vermont 200 was my favorite bump run of the day with no bare spots and big moguls. Schuss was a little sketchy. Hard Luck skied really well. Vista Glades were excellent, not much fresh by the time I got there but really good packed powder and fun terrain up there. Everything lower mountain was nice packed powder with full coverage. I always like all the winding little crossovers between Vista and Wilderness.

Timberline was pretty great too. Some runs had been closed the last couple days for snowmaking, but were back open today with big whales on some. Combine that with soft bumps and fresh powder, and it made for a great time on the snowmaking trails. Tattle Tale was really playful, as was Spellbinder. Brandywine was more groomed out, but had a good pitch with great snow. I didn't trek out to Adam's Solitude, but Doug's Woods were my favorite of the day. Tight pines up top give way to much more open glades further down, with lots of room to explore and find stashes. The exit was a little thin, but the rest of that glade was good enough that I went back for seconds after lunch.

All in all a day to remember. Hoping this weeks thaw doesn't mess things up too bad.
