Comments | If it wasn't for Indy, I never would have ever skiied this area. And speaking of Indy, easiest Indy redemption ever! Walk up to a ticket window, say hello, present your Indy Pass Card, get a ticket(the good old reliable self adhesive one's too!), say thank you, go skiing. Why is this simple system being thrown away for all the RFID Garbage??!!
We got on the triple at a little after Noon and did a warm up run on Allagash top to bottom. Cold temps but no wind and sunny skies. Its a neat little mountain. Nice views, fairly gentle cruiser terrain, but there are some nice fall line runs and cool glades EVERYWHERE, more on that later. Second run we did the Moxie hike up to the old logging territory. There were several groomed runs here in this very interesting semi lift served area with views of Saddleback and Sugar Loaf off in the distance. Moxie would be perfect for a short T-Bar. We only skied this once, I think we went down Saco all the way. Thanks to the Angry Beavers, the glades are open and pretty much free from any downed tree obstructions. I'm looking at the map now writing this and I can't remember exactly which ones we hit off Allagash and St John and off the lift line, but I remember them all being pretty fun, including lazy river. We also did upper/middle Beaver, would've gone farther into the East Bowl if we had more time. We lucked out and got the very last chair after tucking it down the lift line second to last run. I've never hit the very last chair at closing. It wasn't a powder day, but the snow all over was pretty near perfect. Never waited more than a minute to board the lift, yet the parking lot was full. Watched the guys hand the T's on the T-Bar. I'd like to be able to ride that next time. Will have to make another trip here. |
