Comments | We had a great evening of skiing at Hermon Mountain to kick off the holiday weekend! After their snowmaking pumphouse fire in December, it is impressive how quickly they rebuilt and how much snow they have been making to make up for lost time!
They had four runs open from the summit, Cloud Nine, Scenic, and Slow Poke or Lazy Lane to Longview or Turkey Path. There were numerous snowmaking whales scattered around the mountain, waiting to drain and be pushed out. Snow had also been made on Willies Walk and the upper part of Longview and it seemed like they were preparing start making snow on Lakeview soon. Snow surfaces were a nice mix of packed powder and loose granular.
As usual, the mountain was quite busy in the evening and lines were 5-10 minutes long between 3:30 and 6:00. Later in the evening, there was little to no wait. Unlike many other ski areas, Hermon's pricing has stayed the same for the last few years and weekday tickets remain at $40. It remains a great local mountain with a laid back vibe and a great mix of terrain. You know it's a small mountain when one of the owners is working the ticket counter and you run into the other changing the paper towel rolls in the restroom! |
