Food and Beverage Food and BeverageUnfortunately they've gone cashless, taking away diversity of payment choice for customers. Also, the cafeteria is extremely inefficient - it was a good 10-15 minute wait for burgers and fries before the lunchtime rush, as they take your order/payment first, then make the food in the order in which it's received (rather than having some standard fare available under heating lights), with folks awkwardly waiting in a small area blocking the sauces/salts/etc.
Comments CommentsFirst, an Indy Pass/point of sale rant. It took 20 minutes to redeem an Indy Pass today. Indy Pass folks were sent inside and the process was inefficient. Even if you already have a Bolton RFID (with the legal disclaimer on it), you have to go through a waiver acceptance process on an iPad or your phone.

Anyway, now for the good. Most of Wilderness and the main mountain were open today and in fairly good shape.

Wilderness, all natural, was mostly open, except for the Upper Crossover trails and the bottom of Lower Wilderness (a huge disadvantage of mountain bike trail networks is that it takes a lot more snow to ski the impacted trails, and this one has a number of berms on it now). Some rocky/icy areas on the steeps, but the flats were wet packed powder (no grooming on the upper trails thus far). No lift lines for this chair.

On the main mountain, most of the standard snowmaking runs were groomed with manmade base. Spillway and Hard Luck both skied well. One could also access Lower Showoff on natural via Spillway. Did not venture onto Vermont 200 or TNT. Cobrass was open, with the upper portion having decent manmade base (including the first turn, which is often down to rock) and the flats natural only (some thin spots). Alta Vista, Sherman's, and Beach Seal were all decent on manmade base. Valley Road/Moonlight Park not yet covered, so not open due to lack of snow.

No visible snowmaking on Timberline complex yet. Folks were being shuttled up from the parking lots at some point today.

Unfortunately the natural trails will probably not survive the forecast next few days due to the thin spots, but it seems like they have a good start otherwise.

Cloudy/foggy day with a temperature inversion (in the 20s on the drive over, but mid-30s by the top of the access road). Snow got soft/sticky, but not slushy yet.
