Comments CommentsToday, we skied at Bousquet Mountain for the first time! It has been on my list of places that I wanted to ski for a while, but we finally had a good excuse to do so when visiting family for the holidays. Much of the mountain was open, including every lift and main run, except for Louise's Folly. The day started in the single digits, and snowmaking was taking place across the mountain. Except for a few firm spots on newly opened trails, conditions were excellent packed powder at the start of the day.

As the day progressed, it got warmer and they shut down snowmaking. It also got rather busy, but lift lines were never more than a minute or two long at either chair. However, the lodge was a different story. Their new lodge is very nice, but the main seating area and bag storage are far too small and were completely packed throughout the day. Some of the main trails eventually got scraped off in some areas, but conditions remained generally good until we left at 4:00.

I am glad that I got the chance to visit Bousquet and ride the last remaining center pole chairlift in New England. It was a fun mountain to ski at, and they seem to do a really good job with snowmaking and grooming. The terrain was interesting and there was a good variety of it. Some of the steep terrain that wasn't open today, including Icicles, Dino's Chute, & Louise's Folly looked like they would be very fun. There were also a number of interesting looking glades with some cliff drops of varying sizes, including a few that were marginally skiable today.
