Comments CommentsSnuck into the Sun Bowl on the drive home from Christmas and was greeted with third-row parking. Sun Bowl was like a separate, quiet ski area today. Kidderbrook, Middlebrook, Downeaster, Big Ben, and I-91 groomed. Main Line was open on natural and good. Ropes dropped on Rowley's Run, but the rocks underneath were not enough to entice us with the 6-8" of untracked powder.

If I recall correctly, Upper Kidderbrook, Free Fall, and Bear Down all had snowmaking whales waiting to be pushed out.

Main mountain was decent, but there were some icy areas (such as the last headwall on Grizzly, which also had rocks). Tamarack was not groomed out and looked a little rough (doesn't look like it's seen full snowmaking yet).

Snow Bowl was okay, with Upper Slalom Glade being the sleeper pick. Work Road was open (icy in places), but not Upper Wanderer (the lower part of Upper Wanderer is technically open via glades). Drifter Link was a skating rink in places. Snowmaking whales on Cabot's Run and the top of Lower Slalom Glade, but not yet on the steeps.

Lifts were generally only a few chair wait.

Impressive amount of manmade terrain open for early season. Blue skies all day with temperatures probably in the 20s.
