Comments Comments Duh. It was sprinkling when we pulled into the K1 parking lot and it was 40 degrees. Bria and I met Laura in the basement of the K1 lodge to boot up and store our bags. Rode up the Gondola for our first run about 9:20 am, summit still below the dark clouds and only a light wind. Snow was firm, Bulletproof down to the North Ridge Triple. We decided to abandon the higher elevation skiing and headed over to the Snowdon 6 Bubblechair. Sprinkle turned to light rain but snow up high still pretty firm until we got about half way down Snowdon and then it was nice spring snow, not mushy, varied from frozen granular to nice wet corny spring snow. Of course as the morning continued it started to be a steadier rain. We found good spring snow on Ramshead and enjoyed a fun run down the Peak Park terrain park. We went in K1 lodge to warm up and maybe dry up some at 11:15, hot chocolate hit the spot. We switched out our mittens and this time I pulled out my bread bags to cover my gloves. We headed over to Superstar and dang it was frozen solid shiny corduroy bullet proof crazy firm snow still high up but once we got lower the snow improved greatly and the bumps on lower Skyelark were dandy. Because we were there we skied Superstar and took the jughandle from the top and skied down the hard smooth frozen surface trying not to die to reach the lower elevation were the snow was nice. Cold rain and wind increased greatly, the gondola was shutdown and surprised Superstar kept going. We scooted back to the Bubble chair and ended our early afternoon with a nice bumprun down Highline. Lots of snow and trails open, good fun. Would have been better if the sun was out but whatever right? We tailgated inside our car and enjoyed the heat being turned up high. It was 37 at the base when we called it quits and the clouds had moved half way down the mountain. Lots of empty chairs today, you gotta love skiing to get out on a day like today!
