Comments | Conditions were generally decent at Gunstock yesterday for my first ski day in 2024. All chairlifts were running with multiple ways down from each. The groomed surface skied very well in the morning, especially on lower trails like Smith where the snow was softer (unfortunately Smith did not hold up too well in the afternoon). The two open trails from the summit, Upper Gunsmoke and Upper Trigger, started out on the firmer side but never got terribly icy. Most trails had good loose granular conditions for the majority of the day, with Pistol and Tiger being some of the best. Upper Cannonball was pretty icy and Shotgun was getting thin toward the end of the day. Some trails had random small rocks that I presume were tilled up during grooming.
Temperatures started at around freezing and warmed up to mid-30s throughout the day as the sky became increasingly cloudy. No snowmaking due to the temps, but Red Hat, Slingshot, Recoil, Ramrod Race and the tubing hill had whales. Panorama had a wait of a few chairs in the morning but those were the only lines I waited in all day.
Big thanks to the mountain ops teams for maintaining the trail count and snow surface throughout the last few weeks. Glad to hear that Gunstock will likely get some snow this weekend. |
