Comments CommentsWe booked Ikon reservations a few days ago when the weather forecast was better and South Peak had opened. The forecast deteriorated and Loon closed South Peak; alas, the folly of reservations.

From the Kanc 8, there were two ways (Rampasture and Rumrunner) splitting into four ways down. Quite a few thin spots with dirty snow, blazes of grass, and rocks. Snowmaking started on Blue Ox, but not enough to open it. Only way to get to the Kanc 8 complex from the rest of the mountain is Bear Claw.

From the gondola, there were four ways down (Haulback, Flying Fox, Picked Rock, Bear Claw), with the North Peak Quad only adding Sunset to the mix. Three ways below Grand Junction (Brookway, Bear Claw, Seven Brothers). A few thin areas, but generally okay.

The surface was mostly nice spring snow.

Left around 10:30, as the trails were getting busy with lots of beginner skiers (Grand Junction was particularly unpleasant), though there were no lift lines.
