Comments | After a very snowy drive, we arrived at Big Squaw shortly before 9:00 with over a foot of dry blower powder already on the ground. In total, they probably picked up a bit over 15" including the snow that fell during the day. Every trail was open and the powder felt bottomless. We didn't have to worry about hitting rocks, stumps, or any old snow below what had freshly fallen. It gave that amazing floating sensation that every skier dreams of. It was certainly the best conditions this year, and among the best since the 2018-2019 season.
We skied first chair until close and got first tracks on numerous trails and glades. Some trails had been groomed overnight with new snow fallen on top of the packed powder, but many other areas were left untouched. There were a fair number of people there for a Friday, but there was never a wait for the chair, and they only area that was ever busy was the lodge.
The mountain has a great community around it, and everyone there is very friendly. This, combined with the fun terrain and affordable prices makes it a great place to visit. I especially enjoy it on powder days, and today was one of the best in a while! |
