Comments | Skied the West Basin, North Peak, and South Peak trails today. Snow conditions were good. About 2" of thick snow fell overnight after grooming. The new snow helped to smooth out the base layer. Holiday hours are in effect this week, 8:00 AM start. We arrived early and lined up at opening bell at the Kanc 8 to get a jump on the crowd. There is a singles line at this lift. It moves quickly but the bottleneck is that you first need to pass through the group line and RFID gates outside of the building. North Peak was busier than yesterday. No singles line, but the lift attendant was pairing up groups to fill the chairs. The East Basin Double was not running, probably due to staffing issues. It was missed on a day like today. We went over to check out South Peak. We found the best snow to be in this area. I think because it just opened Sunday the snow is new and has not gone through the thaw/freeze cycles yet. The lift line was shorter there, and there was the normal singles line to fill up the chairs. No snowmaking was active today Weather: 24° to start the day, climbing to 31° when we left at 1:00. Some sleet and light snow at opening. Then cloudy, no wind. |
