Comments | With the lack of natural snow this season, there are only 4 ski areas open in Maine for this first weekend in April. We decided to visit Shawnee Peak for the first time this season to enjoy some bluebird spring skiing. They still have surpringly good cover with most snowmaking trails on the main side of the mountain still open, many with wall-to-wall coverage. Things started out firm with great machine groomed granular conditions. Soon enough, things softened up across the mountain and there was great spring skiing to be had! I skied open to close, 8:30-4:30, and only took a short break for lunch. It was just a great day across the board and even the RFID was mostly hassle free, after I figured out how to get the machine to work that dispenses cards. |
