Comments CommentsJan. 12, 2020 - Sun. 51 of 87 trails, 8 of 20 lifts, 50-19F high winds with some strong gusts, machine groomed & variable snow , 6” new in 7 days. Partly sunny after mid morning & then good Visibility.

What a difference 18 hours makes. The blow torch hit after the lifts closed yesterday then the rain in the wee hours of the morning. And it rained hard. The rain was done by 9am and the skies cleared but it remained blustery. Temps began dropping so it firmed up some by noonish.
Now in spots there’s large bare spots, water channels, open water bars. Other areas kept their cover but others were frozen rain perforated frozen granular for the entire trail. Still other trails were soft and skied well. Those were the ones that had recent snowmaking whales made on them like Chute. You really had to look where you were going on some trails.
Bluebird went on wind hold at 1pm and did not return. It was a very light crowd.
Good news, I saw the Grand Summit moving today.
