Comments | With Bolton Valley on wind hold, I made the short drive over to Cochran's for a few runs. Full day lift ticket prices have been cut to $19 this year. The T-Bar was extended slightly uphill and downhill a year ago, giving it just a slight bit more vertical. Race Trail, I-89, and Mighty Mite were all open with a man made base. It had been groomed out prior to the freeze last night, so it was frozen granular with a couple of inches of powder on top. Route 2 to the Face was open via the second entrance, but there was no base under the powder. Though it was smooth enough to ski, the bottom unfortunately had crushed rock hidden under the powder, taking some gouges out of my skis. The very top of Route 2, and I recollect Elbow, were closed. The top rope tow is still there (not running), but hasn't been on the trail map in some time. Did not see if the lower rope tow is still there (not on the trail map either). The T-Bar queue ranged from ski on to close to 5 minutes, depending upon the timing of groups and racers. Lots of kids learning to ski. Great to have small, friendly, local areas like this around. | |
