Comments CommentsNearly every trail is now open; impressive snowmaking. Everything open was groomed.

On North Peak, Walking Boss and Lower Flume were scratchy, but Upper Flume was good. Sunset is nearing full width and is in decent shape. Brookway Extension is closed, but Brookway is open. The quad was nearly ski-on.

In East Basin, Upper Angel Street skied nicely, while the lower part under the double was half width and variable. Basin Street was good. Triple Trouble and Big Dipper are not yet open.

From Loon Peak, Upper Speakeasy had been recently refreshed with snowmaking and was in good shape. Did not ski Bear Claw. Picked Rock was variable with fresh snowmaking piles. Flying Fox had some scratchy areas near the lower Crosscut junction. Picaroon was decent and Lower Picked Rock was so-so. I don't think the Loon Mountain Park trail is open yet (halfpipe still bare). Gondola lines were initially a few cabins deep, but were out the door before 10.

West Basin had the least savory conditions on the mountain. Blue Ox had a lot of blue ice. Rampasture had been groomed out wet and was very tough to even set an edge in. Upper Northstar is closed (guns hosed up), while Lower Northstar was variable. Rumrunner was so so with occasional boilerplate, while Coolidge Street seemed better. Lower Speakeasy was a skating rink. Kanc Quad was generally ski-on.

South Peak was the best skiing on the mountain today. Boom Run was scratchy on the steep, but otherwise so-so. Upper Twitcher was skied off (and the bypass is not yet open), but Lower and Jobber were both good loose granular. Ripsaw opened today and was awesome packed machine powder this morning. Did not go on Escape Route, but it is open/groomed. Lincoln Express was generally ski-on.
