Comments CommentsSpring skiing this morning with temperatures climbing from just below freezing into the 40s/50s.

Steeps were closed for the first hour or so, probably because a lot of stuff set up overnight. Catapult, Ripper, and Christopher's Leap were all awesome spring skiing once they opened with a firm base and soft granular on top. Only the latter was groomed overnight. Apparently this is the first year that Christopher's Leap has actually been open; seems to me to be the steepest of the three. Nevertheless, all three stack up nicely compared to famous steep trails up north.

Race Slope and Lower Alley Cat closed for racing.

Some thin spots on on the eastern most and western most trails. Colonel's Caper was the thinnest of all with brown snow and dirt poking through. Thin on the headwall before the western trails split off.

Though the main parking lots were full (probably a decent amount from race families; I assume they were parking late morning arrivals in the tubing lots), the trails weren't too busy. In addition, they started spinning both auxiliary triple chairs around 10:30, so there were no lift lines to speak of thereafter.
